Spencer Nursery School was originally built in 1946 and has provided education on the same site ever since. In 2004 the site was extended and refurbished to enable us to extend our provision to provide childcare and education for children under 3 years of age.
Spencer Nursery School & Children’s Centre provides 14 full-time places a day for 0-3 year olds and 40 places a day, including full and some part-time places, for 3-5 year olds for 50 weeks of the year from 8.00am until 6.00pm. Spencer is a local authority maintained nursery school with a constituted governing body who have responsibility for the school and the children’s centre. It is committed to delivering high-quality affordable childcare and education for children under five and in addition a range of additional services for families with children under five within the locality of the centre.
Vision Statement
We believe that early childhood is not a preparation for later learning; it is the foundation for all learning.
It is a precious time that empowers and enables children to develop the skills and attitudes that they will need to support them throughout their learning journey. Through appropriate support of children’s personal, social and emotional development we will continue to excite, encourage and assist them to learn.
We owe it to our children to celebrate who they are as individuals, provide rich experiences and opportunities for them to develop as amazing people and ensure their time with us is a treasured and memorable experience.
